  6. Arcus senilis is a build-up of 
  7. cholesterol and other lipids in 
  8. the peripheral cornea.  It 
  9. appears as a whitish or 
  10. yellowish ring just inside the 
  11. limbus.  It is found in 60% of 
  12. the patients between 40 and 
  13. 60 years old and almost all 
  14. patients over 80, thus is 
  15. commonly seen on 
  16. biomicroscopic examination.
